Help before buying the new r4
Hello everyone,
I would like to buy the new Alienware 17 and i want to know if the bios is lock to avoid installing windows 7 or Ubuntu ? i'm planning to remove the Win10 and install Win 7 ,Win10 ,Ubuntu and maybe a hackintouch. I've done some research and some say its the Secure Boot that is handling that but i've never own a laptop i don't know if its true.
This is my first Alienware .

Hello. I don't think the BIOS itself is locked to any one OS, at least in a way you can't turn off. The biggest problem you are going to have is finding drivers that will work. Intel has gone to bed with Microsoft in that going forward chipsets and processors will not fully support, or support at all, anything below windows 10. If you can find the drivers for the components inside the computer that will work with Windows 7 then you shouldn't have any issue installing windows 7.

Skip Windows-7 since it's old and no driver support. You can make Win-10 work close enough to it.
Windows-10 and latest Ubuntu should be fine. You can try Hackintosh , maybe it will work if you are persistent and clever. But even then, don't think you can develop iOS apps on it ... you need a real Mac for that.
