How to enable hardware assisted virutalization in the bios.
Hi all, I am wondering if anyone can help me enable this in the bios? I ran the ms hav detection tool and my processor is capable, however, there is no option to enable it in the bios. After looking through the pc manual the option is not listed there either. I am just about to look at a bios update, but I thought I would throw the question out there while I look. Found a bios update from a10 to a11 but there is no mention of this option being added in the notes. I also can't find any readme txt or install documentation? Can anyone point me in the right direction before I update?

What Alienware model?
What OS?
What VT software?
Why do you assume it's turn off?

model: late 2009 is all it says on the product page on the dell support page so after googling i assume it's aurora R1.
OS: Win 7 home premium (supported edition)
VT software: VMware player
Assumption that it's turned off come from the info gathered from running the HAV tool. Microsoft HAV detection tool.
Message:
Hardware-assisted vitualization is not enabled on this computer.
Before you try to install windows virtual PC on a supported windows 7 edition, enable hardware-assisted virualization in BIOS.
Info gathered from HAV tool user guide:
b) If you have a computer that has a HAV capable processor but if this feature (HAV setting) is not enabled on the processor (in the BIOS), the following screen is shown: (message above displayed)

It works fine for me:
Hardware:
Alienware Aurora R1
x58 Chipset - BIOS A09
Intel i7-930
Software:
Windows 7 64bit Ultimate
Windows Virtual-PC (XP-Mode)
HAV Detection Tool result:
This computer is configured with hardware-assisted virtualization.
This computer meets the processor requirements to run Windows Virtual PC.

thanks for that check, can you see the option in the bios to enable/disable it?

No, no BIOS option.
My guess it's fixed to ENABLED (since no reason to disable it).
From another angle, are you sure VT is possible in Win7 Home Premium (64 bit) ?
