How to setup raid in Alienware M14x r2 with SSD 32Gb msata
Apparently there was a time that i upgraded to windows 8 and I forgot the reason but I had to reformat the whole system due to the reason that I cannot boot to windows 8 and always saying that the media cannot be found. I searched in the internet and said that I should switch SATA to AHCI. I did this and my laptop worked fine. The problem is I want to set it back to RAID.
1. I installed IRTS using Intel's site so I believe that I have the latest Firmwares but the Accelerate button is not visible.
2. Switched back BIOS SATA configuration to RAID during safe mode then I was able to run my laptop perfectly fine but still, Accelerate button is not visible in IRTS.
3. Whenever I boot up, the part where it says to press ctrl+I to enter RAID BIOS does not show anymore. i tried pressing ctrl+i to no avail. the laptop boots up to the alienware text logo immediately.
4. Does boot options in BIOS have anything to do with it? If yes, what should be the optimal settings? I remembered when my laptop crashed that I did change some settings here and I cannot remember the original settings.

If you want not to re-install windows again, and the accelerate button did not appear in the IRST, try this:
Go to disk management and reformat your msata ssd.
After that, go to your IRST and check the accelerate button.
Boom. Accelerate button is there.
Good luck.

Hi!
Follow these steps to load the BIOS Optimal Settings:
1. Access the BIOS by pressing F2 repeatedly at the Alienware startup logo.
2. When you get to the Setup Utility menu, press F9 to load the BIOS Defaults Settings.
3. Press F10 for Save and Exit. Then restart.
To set up the mSATA SSD you want to accelerate, you can follow the steps here. Just make sure the SATA mode is set to RAID after loading the Defaults Settings and re-install Windows as explained in the article.

Is there a way without reinstalling the OS?

You need to re-install to make sure that this time the installation is completed on RAID mode. Otherwise, the option to accelerate the SSD won't be available.

I mean about the reformat thing, make your msata "UNALLOCATED" or black colored.

that didnt work either.
My SSD is already unallocoated even before... Tried making a new volume, none. Reformatting it, none. Unallocating it, none.

Hi Melvin - Alienware-Niomi is right.
It sounds like to may have set the BIOS to AHCI before you upgraded to windows 8.
To get your Alienware computer to run to its full potential I strongly suggest you do a complete re-installation, there are a lot of guides to help you through if you get stuck and with a little work you can get most (99%) of all the Alienware extra software bits back.
Anything less than a re-install is a waste of time (IMO)
PM me if you would like some help with the re-installation
