I have attempted to use this utility several times and get the error @ 13% : "Error Parameter Delegate Combo Box Supported Values ...Value cannot be null. Parameter name :value

I have disabled UAC to no avail.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility several times from both the included CD and off Dells site.

Thanks in advance

EDIT***                   I was able to overclock from bios per instructions, yet I am still curious about the software.

***2nd Edit*** Chris I had the following running in the background:

1. Mcafee Anti viral

2. Ad-Aware

3. Thermal controller software

4. AlienFX

5. Logitech setpoint

Both of you should list all the applications running while trying to use the Intel software.

Right click and disable 1 and 2 and try the Intel application.

I disabled Mcaffee and Ad-aware and the problem persists.

The error still shows up and the tuning GUI comes up with a log file that shows:

WARNING: Auto tuning resumed after an extended period of not doing anything for 2476.75622004833 minutes. This usually happens because of a prolonged system hang or crash.

At this point the GUI shows the tuning progress bar as full (done), as well as the "progress of current task" bar.

Under the heading: elapsed time I am currently at 5.14:04:09... five days lol?

I hit the stop button on the tuning GUI and it grays out and the icon says "stopping".

Under the remaining heading I am being counted down from 01:10:00... an hour and ten to stop the process?

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the utility and also scrubbed the registry with CCleaner hoping to avoid any problems.

As I posted before I am able to achieve an overclock via the Bios, but I am currently running my machine on the optimal default bios settings.

I will let this GUI "remaining time" run out and then I will try the auto tune feature again.

Similar issues to Strangepowers, got same error message. This is on a completely fresh boot, I just received this PC on Tuesday. So fustrated I can't use features I assumed would of been tested and updated. Currently on Bios A06, programs that were running was 60 services from normal boot, Setpoint for Logitech mouse drivers, nothing else.

I'm getting this error for some reason. Well it's more like a pop up because after I close it Intel Tuning program shows up. But every time I run the Intel program I get this.

Deejaydel, I actually had tech support on the phone and asked them to open up and run the Intel Tuning program directly to show them that error message. Response was that you get that warning when you don't have any OC set, meaning that null = stock and it's just apart of the software currently.

Looks like this is pretty much on par with the rest of alienwares junk, put a decent app on an alienware and it don't work anymore. This is just one more pile for dell to sweep under the rug and forget about.

Lookslike you are using XTU 1.3. We will release XTU 2.1. Be checking the website.

Thank you Chris! I was having exactly the same Error Loading Application problem and this thread and your latest news saved me a lot of time and headaches.

I like this Community Forum, better than tech support for the answers I am looking for :)

Or you can give the factory specs/voltages/ and settings for a processor, for the socket 1366 socket intel cpus your selling, then have examples how overclocking works for extremes and none extreme cpus, also stressing do not overvolt the ram past the rec 1.65v max on the i7 socket 1366 cpus and tri-chn ram because doing so will prob result in cooking your hardware. running prime95/linx also shows if your truly stable, 1.2v-1.3X volts on average is ok for vcore on an overclock once you hit about 1.4X volts+ its normally time to think about real water cooling a good air cooler can sometimes handle this depends on the cpu to be honest. Also go into why an extreme is nice for overclocking, the unlocked multi makes it easier to overclock your cpu and allows you not to touch the timings/voltages/settings on your ram like a none extreme where you up your QPI to overclock resulting in overclocked ram forcing the overclocker to downclock or slightly overclock thier ram, its timing and settings. That’s one personal reasons I love extremes, i can overclock my cpu with little to no changes to my ram depending on what kind of overclock I want and how extreme I want to go.

Only real tools I have seen out there that are good msi afterburner/evga precision/and evga eleet for overclocking/dummy overclocking your hardware in windows, but it is a very good idea to know what you’re doing and do the research before you even think of tweaking thing on your system. Will take you about a 3 days to a week of reading and asking questions to figure out how to overclock and test an overclock to make sure its stable and see what is safe and what is in the extreme area of overclocking where more exotic forms of cooling are needed aka dice/300-1k+ water cooling custom made kits/phase change/chillers you name it. The core i7's can get an easy 3.7-4.1ghz overclock with min effort, the extremes its almost a given with no effort at all just upping the unlocked multi you paid for. But not all cpus are the same some will overclock better than others. People who are more into overclock actually chose thier cpus by batch number keeping track of the bad, the ok the good and the gem batches that result in the best overclock they can get for their money.

If you want to make good tools for your users, inform them of what is safe and what is not if you want to allow them to overclock past specs, have tutorial videos. Yes not all cpus are the same but you can easily provide the information for it. You can get with people who make cpuz or unwinder the programmer for rivatuner pay them to make your tools, you can even have things setup with a failsafe mode so your customers dont go too extreme with thier hardware and your alienware/dell factory cooling setups. That would be a good idea, not the junk software as others have mentioned that just gets tried out with the result of your customer thinking oh that sucks that’s useless and then its forgotten.

Any update on when this will be updated, as of Tech support last night updating my Nvidia GTX 480 driver from the stock sent 197.00 to 197.41 and for 4th time reinstalling to attempt to fix the Command center issues i've been having. I know get the same error, "Error loading application or connecting to XTU service. Could not start the hardware interface service. It is possible that another performance tuning application is running; if that is the case, close the application and try again"

I have nothing running outside windows based serviers , logitech mouse drivers, Creative sound drivers. I have tried with reboot with all services disabled in msconfig and startup services off. Still same error, was also told by tech support that this was considered a chipset driver and would need to back up my data and do complete full OS format and reinstall to repair or fix these drivers..... Only good news is after 5 calls I got new IO board ordered to hopefully fix my Command Center lighting / driver stopping issues ugh.

Go back to BIOS AO3 and it will work again. Dell just can't seem to get their updates to work, they fix one thing and screw up 5 others

Will rolling back the Bios from A08 to A03 work with no other "side effects", or will one get that we detect a newer version of this program unable to do this task kinda thing?
