My fan. Noise.

I've had this issue for years but I have tried to fix it countless times. My fan is very loud on my PC (Alienware Aurora R3), and it seems there is no way to fix it. Years back when I had the Alienware Command Centre, the ThermalControl stopped working, and didn't allow me to control the speed of my fan. I have downloaded so many programs to try and manually lower the fan speed but it seems there is simply no option. I have 3 fans in my computer, and it's the two fans at the front that are making the noise. My question is: Is there a way to manually control my fan speed? I am very tempted to shove a pencil in them right now.

Hi,

You can still find the manual option in the command center. Click here to download the application.

Does this version of the command centre (2.8.9.0, A02-00) run with the Windows 10 Anniversary update?  I have up update installed now after some work and I know Win 10 isn't supported on my R3 :-) however the only thing I am missing is the command centre software so I wondered if I should install it...  thanks in advance, Peter

2.8.9 in Win7 Compatibility Mode, then using manual fans (fixed speed or a fan curve) instead of auto (in Thermal Controls) has been known to work, but I might try 2.8.11 in Win8 Mode as a second option. I haven't had issues, this is the mainstream advice. Report back?

I installed command centre 2.8.9.0, A02-00 on my Aurora R3 with the Windows 10 Anniversary update and no problems:-) it seems to have run fine with the exception of one time when the fans ran at 50% but following a reboot all was and is good.  It may not be supported by Dell but it does work!  Peter
