New Alienware M15x does not support "Optical Audio output (SPDIF)"?

I called Dell today and I just found out that Alienware M15x Super Gamming notebook Does Not support "Optical Audio output (SPDIF)". That is a sad news for people who want buy M15x (included me). Is this for real? Can someone confirmed the information? If it does not support SPDIF, how can it hook up with my 5.1Ch speaker? Please download the User's Manual for more information.

I'm surprised the M15x doesn't support SPDIF. My M17x does although it's a pain to configure each time I want to play sound through my TV and then when I want to switch back to laptop audio.

If I spend USD 2000.00+ for a notebook......I am sure I am not going to spend more money on USB sound card to make SPDIF work.....

What a nice super notebook that missing a "Gold Finger"......

I just bought the Creative 5.1 X-Fi Sound Blaster which supports Dolby Digital & DTS.  I am having troubles getting this to work.  I agree w/ you all that it's surprising that this is not included.  I spoke w/ a Dell rep who said that if enough customer feedback pours in then maybe we'll see that feature return (the Area 51 M15x has it).

Enough Feedback?

Haha.....as you can see....this is a high end notebook...it cost people around $2000~$3000+.....

I do not think we will get enough feedback in the furture to make them adding more feature on it....don't you think so?

But I would suggest Dell......if they want to provide Top End notebook....they need to think carefully to add up the function for Power User market.....

If they missing one little stuff.....it might cost people not buying it....
