Ok guys so I have been struggling with this gem here for a few days now. I recently received my replacement computer for my alienware 15 R3 that was constantly freezing and crashing over the last year. they upgraded me to the most recent system with the 7820hk and nvidia 1080gtx. The issue I am having is with the laptop un docked from the graphics amp I am able to install the latest nvidia driver 387.92. but when I dock with the graphics amp and close the laptop the desktop comes up but nvidia control panel will remove itself requiring me to restart the system to get it to come back. At this point the driver rolls back to an earlier version from this year which I did not install myself. The card in the amp is nvidia 1070. After this happens very few games actually launch and i am not able to install the newest driver because it will say it cannot find compatible hardware even though I can see both cards in device manager. Even stranger is when I undock and try and use as a laptop again it wont fully boot into windows and I have to boot into safe mode completely uninstall everything nvidia and then re install and boot back into windows normally for the computer to be able to work again... Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I currently am trying to do the process of editing one of the .INF files and forcing install of the newest drivers with the computer docked and hopefully that will work but I will continue to check back here for any info or updates. I need this computer to work with 3 monitors for work and school so if I am not able to get it resolved the computer is useless to me. Thank you all so much in advance!
