Water cooler upgrade help asap !
Hello so I have an alienware aurora r2 and the water cooler in it is just way to loud.. Seriously like a jet .. So I want to switch It out for a decent CPU fan that would be quieter but also keep it cool enough. Any suggestions ? I don't know what fan would be best

if it isn't an overheating cpu, try the power dissipation / power drain reset:

1st check your cpu temps. 28c-40c might be normal at idle, 80-100c would be overheating. Your fan might be full blast because it might be trying to keep the cpu cool.
hwmonitor is one program to get cpu temps, I use intel extreme tuning utility for cpu temps

so it's been normal for a while, then just out of the blue the fan went hay-wire, running full-blast?
you could buy a new fan, but I suspect it too will run full-blast on install. I'm wondering what the underlying problem is that is making your fan run faster than it should all of a sudden.
what is your cpu idle temp, in CmndCntr what is your system fan rpm at idle, can you reinstall/'repair' CmndCntr' & see if it helps the fan settle down.

I'm using an everflow 25mm 0.40amp 4pin pwm, part#: r121225bu
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=r121225bu&_sacat=0
it isn't quiet but isn't loud either. check some recent fan reviews 1st. I wonder if you need a new fan or find out why yours is running so fast for no apparent reason.

not sure what fan you might replace with now or later, all I did was type a quiet fan review search:
http://www.bing.com/search?q=quietest%20pc%20fans%20review&qs=n&form=QBRE&pq=quietest%20pc%20fans%20review&sc=0-21&sp=-1&sk=&cvid=4ad4d34dc6334d2cbb6c2409d8369622
you'd need a 4-wire 4pin pwm fan. yours now should be 38mm wide x 120mm. 38mils can get expensive and are loud & tend to be high-power (over 1amp), perhaps a 32mm or 25mm fan will be quieter & less power ( < 1amp)

The temps are fine, not over heating at all.. And I've tried unplugging it and holding the power a few times and just did again and its still super loud

Here's a 15-minute vid, you only need to listen to about the 1st 5-10 seconds. Loud as a hair-dryer.
It isn't the fans fault it's racing so high, & a new fan won't help this guy's system, it needs a software or hardware repair that causes the fan to rev so high. You said yours is like a jet.
to fix this guy's fan in the video, in a world where his cpu cooler & cpu temps are ok, I would tell him to try a power drain (hold top pwr button down 1-minute etc), uninstall/reinstall CmndCntr a few times, try a jumper reset, try to run 32-bit diagnostics to check the mio board &/or replace the mio board as the typical issues to be explored. Some of those procedures are here:
A link from the article 'Alienware Desktops: Loud Fans, Lights not changing color, cmnd cntr errors'
a loud fan is like a CmndCntr issue; if you uninstall CmndCntr, it is 'no longer a Cmnd Cntr software issue' it might be a hardware issue like the mio board itself

Under CPU pump on command center it just says "running"

I didn't say or mean to imply your mio was 'dead'. I said I outlined steps to do a jumper reset & run 32bit diag inside of a thread called 'mio dead'.
I posted a video of a system who's fan was spazzing out. If the fan went to max, it might suggest the cpu was overheating, so step one is check cpu temps. Of ok, then it might be a software issue, so we'd reinstall CmndCntr perhaps, we might try the power dissipation drain etc.
In that video, if the cpu isn't overheating &/or the pump didn't fail, it is abnormal for the fan to be at full blast. The mio board controls cpu/radiator 'system' fan speed, ok? if the fan is at max, you need to correct it. It isn't as simple as buying a new fan, for the chance exists you install the new fan, it too goes to max.
you can do a search here for 'Aurora fans' or 'Aurora fans max' etc, you will find info on this since dozens of people have it happen & post about it, with solutions if you care to look into it.

Aurora R4 & Area-51 R2 will get the most attention in so far as support. Area-51 R1 & Aurora R1 R2 R3 may have some support topics 'missing', a situation I resent with Dell & Alienware. yadda yadda
We go to Troubleshooting by model from the splash page here, go to Aurora R2, we see a section:
there we read that perhaps we did a windows update & now our system acts funny. possible cure? uninstall Cmnd Cntr & .netframework, reinstall .net, reinstall CmndCntr.
I didn't mean your mio was dead, I meant you might have corrupt software now & your mio is misbehaving, classic symptom is a fan at full balst jet engine / hair-dryer. possible cause Is an mio that is 'offline', corrupt firmware / software, who knows, it can be any of 5 reasons.
It is common that 'all' fans goto max: in Area-51 & Aurora we expect the hard drive fan(s) to go full-speed along with the pci-e fan & system/rad fan for whatever that does occur, so it is tough to say why 'one fan' (yours) is acting up & not the rest. What you might do is a 90 second test, where you remove your 92mm pci-e fan (since it is a 4pin pwm fan), back out your radiator/system fan connector from the top light strip, insert your 92mm connector into your sys fan header, hold it, power up, wait for your desktop & CmndCntr to load, see if it too goes to full blast (this will recreate 'buying a new fan') then hurry up & shut the pc down.
if it is at full blast, your mio has a cpu_fan harness that plugs into the mthrbrd cpu_fan header. A fast test is to back it out, plug your 92mm fan into it, start up, hold fan, test for 90 seconds.
In that scenario, your testing to see what the motherboard has set as the fan rpm speed, since themthrbrd sends that data to the mio board over the cpu_fan harness where the mio then sets its own parameter. Understand? testing to see what the motherboard itself thinks the radiator fan (what it thinks is the cpu fan) speed should be?

you need to clean the cooper and replace the water ... a water cooler cpu is better than a fan.
