What AMD GPUs fit in an Alienware x51 r2 without additional modifications?

I am wanting to put an AMD card in my x51 but don't want to have to get a new psu since they're so expensive and I don't want to have to drill holes in my case, or anything like that. I am mainly looking at the 380 but what other higher end AMDs will fit in it? Thanks

Hi,

The validated AMD video card upgrades are below.

  • AMD, Radeon R9 270X
  • AMD, Radeon R9 370

Which PSU are you using?

Hi I have the standard Psu That came with it. Is that enough for a 380 at least?

Just the standard one that came with it. Is that enough for a 380?

The 330w PSU will work for the R9 380, but there's a problem. All the R9 380's use a fan design that blows hot air into the case, which by consequence, makes things worse. You would have to take out the DVD drive (and probably its bay) and the side panel in order to ensure good usage. At least the R9 270(x) and R7 370 / R9 370 have a blower design, one that blows hot air outside the case.
