X51: POST will not recognize keyboard (BIOS A14)
just spend the last few hours updating BIOS from A01 to A06, then A07, then A14 as directed. now, POST will not recognize the keyboard so i can actually enter BIOS. i see the POST screen, the F2 to enter setup, F12 for boot options area, but nothing i do can stop it booting into windows.
things i've tried:
- 3 different wired keyboards in each of the 8 USB ports (front & back)
- 1 wireless keyboard in each of the 8 USB ports
- unplugging the machine and disconnecting CMOS battery for several minutes
- repeat points 1 and 2
after CMOS reset, when booting i am presented with the "RTC was reset, press F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup" screen, so i know that accomplished what i wanted, but that screen will not recognize any of my keyboards either.
is there a way to either fix this or downgrade BIOS? previous BIOS, my main keyboard worked, no issue.

Hello,
Try doing a power drain. To perform a power drain, follow the steps below.
If the same issue continues, Its probably hardware related and the motherboard may need to be replaced. If your system is in warranty, send me your service tag in a PM for hardware assistance.

while i'm not sure what this would accomplish vs. disconnecting the battery as i had already done, i did try as you suggested - no change. the system is out of warranty but i will PM you to see what options i have.
thanks.
