alien ware flashing yellow/amber power light

ive seen many posts with lots of people having the same issue where their steam machine is having issues when they are trying to turn it back on. the only option ive seen is to do a power drain either for a minute or for a long time (over night). im curious if there has been any official fix for this or any explained reason, faulty hardware software. maybe i was looking in the wrong posts but i only saw one reply from any admin saying to simply restart it and hard boot it. which isnt really an answer since i bet 99% of the people on here are experienced enough to know to restart/hard boot something if it isnt working properly. 

any info would be greatly appreciated.
