bad motherboard
I just bought an Aurora R3 from outlet how can I tell which motherboard is in it I want to be sure I didn't get the one which was recalled because by Intel's site I think I may have possibly gotten one of the bad ones I do have a hard drive on sata 2 it is the intel 600 chipset and I believe it says p67

Alienware makes the boards through another company. Only the very first batch had the bad boards. The owners had the boards replaced by Alienware after the recall occurred. Most likely if it did get a bad board it would of probably been replaced since all the customers affected were contacted by Dell. But it is possible, the only way to find out would be to call Alienware. They might have a way of distinguishing if that is one of the affected boards.

Before you contact Dell, get the PPID number off the board. It'll be about 20 digits long and starts with C/N ....... etc. That'll let themn figure it out.

is it possible for me to figure it out with this number just in case their techs don't want to replace it have heard bad rumors about them i personally have never had a problem but just in case

Off the top of my head..no. I have to deal with them on a daily basis and I know what test in patience it can be. But they have the information on hand. Take plenty of Tylenol and some good deep breathes when you're on the phone with them.
