i7-720QM upgrade to ....?
I have an Alienware M15X i7-720QM @ 1.6 GHz with 8GB of ram and a Geforce GTX 260m video card. I have been thinking of upgrading the processor (Socket 989 rPGA) to maybe a i7-2960XM. I am looking for the biggest bang for the buck. I've read that some i7 gen 2 chips (Socket 988B) are compatible with the gen 1 socket. Not sure how far I can with the upgrade considering the power supply and cooling sytem already in place nor do not know if its even worth my time but any suggestions are much appreciated.

On the M15x systems the most that tested was the following processor:
I7-740QM
I7-820QM
I7-840QM
I7-920XM
I7-940XM
If you upgrade to any other processor the system could work but we cannot assure you if in the proper way, I will recommend you to check in different modification forums they might be able to help you.
