Your laptop had a Boot-Menu? That is possible but not common. What was on it?
You might want to describe problem in terms of ...
1. Does it and the display turn on?
2. Does it get past BIOS-Posting?
3. Does windows login appear?
Have you checked the AC-Adapter and maybe try removing the main battery and AC-Adapter plug for a while?

the laptop will turn on then it has check media and then goes to no boot press any key to reboot and it goes around these two screens back and forth

Sounds like your Hard-Disk-Drive crashed (fairly common with all computers) or your Windows is corrupt due to some other reason.
You should probably have an experienced computer technician or shop take a look at it.
If you just need a HDD, many people upgrade to a SSD. Much faster and more reliable. They are cheaper now-days than before.
