Battery desktop mode on AW15R3?
I recently bought an Alienware 15 R3 and cannot find the battery desktop mode when I right click the battery icon. Alienware OSD application is installed (latest version).
Is this option not available on an AW15R3? And if not, how can I prevent the battery from being constantly charged on 100% when power is plugged in (to have max performance during gaming)? Or is it no problem on an AW15R3 to keep the battery constantly on 100% full charge.

Hi pcraenme,
Is this option not available on the AW15R3, on this model the BIOS will auto-prevent the battery from charging after 100%. Just make sure the Bios is up to date.

Thanks for the response I was also interested in finding this out. Do you recommend discharging the battery from time to time though? mine will stay plugged in 90% of the time.
I take it the BIOS update makes these new laptops on par with apple macbooks for example? to my knowledge I only ever had battery longevity applications on widows machines but I don't recall having one on a MacBook I owned a few years ago and have always wondered why! if so I'm glad this is being implemented.

You should be fine. However, I would recommend running it on battery (down to 25%) about once a week though.
