Upgrading motherboard in aurora 7500 R4 (Foxconn 590 SLI nforce)

I've purchased an aurora 7500 R4 custom desktop back in 2006 and it's been a joy to have. However, to keep up with the technology of modern gaming and its demand its time to give this guy an upgrade. Essentially I want to keep my current PSU, 750 watt OEM ATX PSU power supply, and GPU, Geforce gtx 460 (Yes I had to upgrade this from my initial as that one burned out) and lastly the chassis of the R4. And so I would like to upgrade the CPU from my D- Athlon 64 X2 5200+ AM2 DC processor to and i5 3570k. However, in doing so I need to swap my motherboard so it can have a compatible socket.

The issue I'm having is that if I want to keep the same chassis of the aurora 7500 R4 I need to find a motherboard with the same I/O connectors configuration as the foxconn 590 sli nforce or else it won't fit. So my question here is, is there a motherboard with a 1150 socket that has the same configuration as the foxconn motherboard I have? Maybe someone had a similar issue as I do and found a way to solve it without switching the chassis

P.S. If you notice any issues that might arise from switching to the new CPU with my current configuration please let me know, I'm no expert in the field

Overhaul vid on utube, is this close to what you want to do? He doesn't say if his Win7 allows proper exterior lights etc.

Search alienware aurora on utube as well, you might stumble on a how to.

Dell bought Alienware, some of the original owners started a new pc company called Origin Pc as the result. Search Origin PC forum on bing/google etc. There's another alienware owner forum: http://www.alienowners.com/content.php perhaps modding help over there as well. Good luck!

This is an Alienware Legacy system. Dell has never sold those and we don't know much about them. You will have better luck an Origin Forums.

If I may offer some advice ... you would be better off selling, gifting, or moving that working machine to a lesser role. Custom build or buy a newer machine based on a more up-to-date case hardware platform.

There is very little that will transfer over anyway. In general, trying to keep an older proprietary case is also limiting. For instance, (just a small example) ... it might be difficult to get real USB-3 ports into a front custom panel. Also, if there is a Multi-IO board controlling the lights and fans, the software that runs it might not be available for more recent Operating Systems.

Thanks for the advice Tesla, I have been considering that. However, there's so much sentimental value and time/work on my desktop, I'd hate to see it go and forking over around 1.5k for a new computer isn't ideal at the moment. The computer still runs fine, however, its a bit slow when it comes to gaming. I'm sure with the right CPU it'll be up to par with contemporary desktops.

Ha ha, but at the end of his vid, he says he works for nerd tek. They exist, lol.

You should call or email, say you saw the vid, want full integration after a motherboard swap, maybe that guy can help get your lights working, answer other concerns. Worth a shot ...

I completely forgot to check youtube for advice on this subject. Thanks a lot for the video and the website link, both are bound to help!
