15 R3, motherboard MK-BL meaning inquiry

Hello guys, few days ago I bought a battery replacement for my alienware 15 r3, and I changed it by myself. The new battery is working fine but unfortunately I just broke a small flat cable which is marked as MK-BL, just besides the battery connector. This flat cable is pretty thin, and half of it was torn. Currently the laptop is working fine, I can still use it to post this thread, but could any pro master tell me what the MK-BL stands for, not sure if this situation will harm the laptop if I continue using it.

Thanks for the help.

Hi @Sylus21 MK-BL cable is the macro-keys backlight cable (optional) from the system board.

Not sure what type of damage MK-BL cable has sustained. Sharing a good close up image of the tear from either side would help. If not manually disconnected, worst case scenario would be low voltage electrical shorting and burn out of system board circuit, etc. that provides this feature. Main battery power is always available and electrical shorting of MK-BL cable could continue when laptop is not switched on.

Quick check of the service manual shows a Macro Key Backlight cable.  That's probably what it's the connector for.
