Hi @DELL-Cares if the Dell AWCC installed the AlienFX 2.0 application on our Alienware 17 R5 Laptop with Intel's 'Coffee Lake-H' CPU, we should see this? So how do we get AlienFX 2.0 installed? Please update your support pages to include how to install the AlienFX 2.0 applications.
The new Alienware Command Center Application v5.2.91.0_A00 has been installed. Of the AWCC four tabs, only LIBRARY and FUSION are available on our 17 R5 laptop. Unexpectedly the HOME and FX 2.0 tabs are not available, so have copied these "missing" screen images from the video, Customise your New Alienware laptop using Alienware Command Center. Do not know what is stopping all four tabs being available. How can Dell diagnostics say there are no problems?
Any luck on this Crimson? My laptop remains dark as well, things I have tried reinstalling cc, fresh copy of windows. Power drain, and nothing lights just won't come on . I believe it to be Dell's software. I would prefer just software to control the lights, all of the other components are useless to me. I don't need alienware sound, fusion, library, oc controls.
Hi @RealDeuce sad that your Dell device(s) is also suffering from similar AWCC fault.
Do not know if software, hardware and/or firmware fault. Despite having a UK one year RTB warranty, nobody seems to know the cause, so our 17 R5 cannot be fixed. Dell Support AlienFX pages have not been updated to include AlienFX 2.0 solutions. Dell Community AlienFX solutions have not fixed this AlienFX 2.0 fault on our dark 17 R5. Not going to buy any other Dell Alienware products based on this experience.
Hope that your Alienware graphics amp 2080 Super has improved your gaming experience. Hear that there are also AWCC problems with the 17 R5 in combination with the amp 2000 Here.
Graphics amp has improved the system, and has worked well. The only problem with the the setup is the FX lights. They were working fine a couple of weeks ago until Dell updated AWCC and it broke them.
Hi @RealDeuce thank for the update which reinforces the premise that the Dell AWCC application has disrupted the AlienFX's Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) function on the system board. It seems that when Dell updated the AWCC code they forgot to update all of the AlienFX's EEPROM code. This is a very basic requirement and we are mystified why Dell's Technical Support and Quality Assurance has made this fundamental mistake. This Dell AWCC application update also seems to prevent reverting to an earlier version to reinstate AlienFX 2.0 Light function.
The disappearance of the AWCC FX 2.0 tab coincides with the 17 R5 going dark. However, do not understand why the AWCC's Home tab has also disappeared.
We also note that the AWCC application file size has increased from 253.55 MB to 630.63 MB. No wonder that the CPU is struggling and failing to install everything. Having encountered this persistent fault, Dell do not provide a catch-up AlienFX 2.0 installer to force inclusion of the 'missing' AlienFX applications.
Advocate that @DELL-Cares has many unhappy customers and should be proactive in stopping disruption of the AlienFX 2.0 Light function on their expensive gamming laptops, etc.
Dell provides the current Alienware Command Center Application v5.2.91.0 and it struggles and fails to install the AlienFX 2.0 applications (again). The AWCC application keeps trying to install the additional components for the AlienFX Lights, but there are no AlienFX 2.0 files in the AWCC folder. When is @DELL-Cares going to get their Dell AWCC code to work for all Dell customers?
