My solution was to delete Dell SupportAssist and disable all drivers for Biometric devices. Windows stability restored.

* Uninstall SA (SupportAssist) 3.11 through Windows Apps & Features. Note, if the system is rebooting or if you are unable to uninstall the SA from normal Windows, attempt to boot into Safe Mode and uninstall SA there

* If you need SA now, you may download and install SA 3.10.4. Or you may simply use the PC without SA until the fixed newer version is on the main "SupportAssist for home PCs" page

Just started getting this issue yesterday and my machine is not active long enough to remove anything. Isn't this something Dell should push a patch for?

Managed to Fix it in the end:

  • Start in safe mode
  • Removed dellinstrumentation.sys (took ages to find it)
  • Started in normal mode.
  • Removed Dell SupportAssistance; Dell SupportAssistance Remediation; Dell Power Manager Service.

Seems to be fixed but good luck to anyone not technically capable with laptops/ computers.

I believe it could be a DELL service that crashed on the computer. I highly  recommend booting into safe mode and uninstalling every DELL application on the computer then after uninstalling restart the computer and enter safe mode with command prompt. After doing that then run the following commands.

sfc /scannow

chkdsk /r

chkdsk /f

Then restart and let me know what happened.

Hi @Brendan.T  welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.

We know the root cause of the Alienware 17 R5 DellInstrumentation.sys blue screen, and its solution on our system. There is no requirement to disable all Dell Services.

Alienware15 R4 here.   Started today randomly.   Rebooted 8 times with the same as pictured.

A bit of googling shows thats in an emerging issue across multiple dell products.

As per the French Dell Group - my solution was to:

  • Disable All Dell Services,
  • make sure there are no scheduled diagnostics until more is known

I don’t have time to remove DellSupportAssist because it restarts so fast. What should I do?

Hi @Jbtts14  I had same problem "Alienware 17 R5 laptop blue screen problem within minutes of boot into windows." so I used trick to delay automatic run of  DellInstrumentation.sys, which after a few attempts allowed sufficient time for deletion of Dell SupportAssist, and Restart to save changes. My persistence fixed problem and normal service has resumed.

I  don't have enough time (less than 3 minutes to use) to delete or uninstall softwares.

Hi,

I am struggling with this same problem which started yesterday suddenly after I had been working for a while. Now I only get a few minutes after switching power on until Stop Code comes up! Can you please advise the best way to rectify this problem without deleting Dell Support Assistant. Thank you.

Hello,

The solution would be either disabling or removing DellInstrumentation from device manager.
Step by step resolution can be found on KB Computer Repairs Blog

Thanks

I solved it by booting into safe mode and uninstalling the DellInstrumentation driver in Device Manager. It wouldn't allow me to uninstall Dell SupportAssist in safe mode so I restarted in normal mode and uninstalled it from Apps list Settings. Job done, no more BSOD.

Just for the record, I booted to safe mode & disabled the startup services for Dell.  That worked & I await a real solution.

image.jpgDid these random folders appear for everyone else on the OS? I don’t have access to them so I can’t delete them
