17 R5, are both SSD slots NVMe capable?
Looking to upgrade the SSD that comes standard with the 17r5 and curious if both slots support M.2 NVMe SSDs. Thank you in advance for the help.

Tammy,
Would you mind giving me the exact model number for the M17 R5 that supports 3 SSD m.2 drives. Thank you!

Hi @Alienware-Tammy want to install two M.2 2280 NVMe SSD in 17 R5. Looked in alienware-17-r5_users-guide_en-us.pdf and alienware-17-r5_service-manual_en-us.pdf, but they are not explicit. So did simple check by moving SATA SSD from SSD-3 slot to SSD-2 slot, but it does not work. Moved SATA SSD back into SSD-03 slot and it works. Is there a system board fault, or does SSD-2 slot only work with NVMe SSD?

The 17 R5 SSD-2 slot only works with M.2 PCIe NVMe card. It will not work with a M.2 SATA card.
