17 R4, advice on how to set up two external monitors

Hi there,

I have an Alienware 17 R4 that is just over 2 years old. I have been using one external monitor along with the laptop screen but that is very awkward and would like to try to get a better set up and am confused on what I will need to get there.

I use the computer for some gaming and lots of work. Heavy multitasking, with lots of windows or tabs open, hence the need for multiple monitors.

I haven't bought the monitors yet, but I will probably get something in the 24"-27" size.

I do not know if I need a Thunderbolt dock or some sort of hub? What I want to have are:

The two monitors

An external keyboard (I have the Kinesis Freestyle split keyboard)

A wireless mouse

An external webcam

Currently to use the webcam, I have to unplug the keyboard. I've been making it work, but I figure I can do better.

I believe I've read something about having the dock charge the 17 R4 isn't possible. That doesn't matter to me. I would just like to have a system where everything is all hooked up, and I have enough ports for everything.
