Changing Stock M.2 SSD to Evo/Pro series
Hello Dell Community,
I have an Alienware 15 R2 with stock M.2 SSD 256G; Causing Bottleneck on my device.
Until now I decided to change my SSD to avoid that and to have more storage. But, seen some users telling me there is issue with Alienware devices which they're not supporting the Evo series I guess. Anyway, Im here asking for help, if there is a way to get it work or if there is any other M.2 recommendations I can go for.
Im looking for 500GB or more of storage with high speed of read and right; For gaming and editing (It will be my OS drive).
I will be thankful for you guys.

I admittedly haven't researched Alienware systems specifically, but there shouldn't be a problem running Evo SSDs unless somebody tried to install an Evo M.2 NVMe SSD into a system that only supported M.2 SATA SSDs -- but that's not an Evo problem, because no NVMe SSDs will work in systems that only support M.2 SATA. Dell ships Samsung SSDs from the factory, and the Samsung PMxxx SSDs are just rebadged Samsung Evos with some custom firmware that locks out certain Samsung Magician features. Samsung SMxxx SSDs are rebadged Samsung Pros.
So again, while I haven't researched particular Alienware models in detail, if you're seeing reports of problems with Evo SSDs, it might just be because Samsung Evo SSDs are by far the most popular retail SSD line on the market, so you might see more issues reported with them compared to other SSDs simply because there are far more of them in use.

i have 17 r4 and samsung 970 evo and they work without any issue
