Interaction between Alienware Sound Center and Prepar3D v4.5.13
Hello,
I have an issue running Prepar3D whilst the Dell Alienware Sound Center is running in the background. This is a part of the audio driver which is supplied for the laptop and I have no issues with any other programs whilst it is running -- hence my thoughts that this is most likely an issue with P3D.
- Prepar3D version: 4.5.13.32097
- Operating system: Windows 10 Pro 1909 build 18363.720
- All add-ons installed (applications, scenery, vehicles, etc.): None, fresh install
- Hardware (graphics card, CPU, RAM, displays, etc.): Dell Alienware 15 R3. Intel Core i7-7820HK, nVidia GeForce GTX 1070, 16GiB RAM, Internal G-Sync display.
- Changes made to your system – overclocking, graphics accelerators (NVIDIA Inspector), debuggers: None
- Changes to Prepar3D's settings or configuration files: None, issue occurs on a fresh start of P3D with all generated files deleted.
- Crash logs or error messages: No crash and I can't see anything in event viewer.
Steps to reproduce:
- Start Prepar3D with Alienware Sound Center in the tray:
- Select an aircraft and location and load in. I use the Mooney G1000 and EGTB.
- The frame rate is exceptionally low, approx. 7 FPS when loaded in and there is no sound even when enabled
- Disable sound either by pressing Q or using the menu bar
- The FPS immediately recovers to 95-100 FPS, or;
- Start P3D with Alienware Sound Center closed and not in the tray:
- Load in to the aircraft as before
- When loaded the sound works perfectly, and the FPS is within the expected range for both sound on and off
Edit: I am running the latest version of the Dell published Realtek Audio Driver (which includes Alienware Sound Center), version 6.0.8816.1 published 21 Nov 2019.
Thanks in advance for your help.
