m17 R4, RTX 3080, i7, problems

Hi,

Just got my new m17 R4 3080, i7, last Monday. Everything seemed fine I really like it. However I been having some problems with it.

As soon as I got it ran some benchmarks (Cinebench, 3DMark, ts bench) and all was fine. Out of great precaution I even set TCC at 90C in the bios. But at some point I was just opening a PDF and I got a black screen, had to hard reset it.

This got me nervous and I decided to run Furmark + TS bench. Around 10 minutes TS bench starts showing errors (it didn't crash as I stopped the test). My temperatures never surpassed 90C for the CPU (as was limited by TCC) and 80 for GPU.

I decided to lower the TCC to 85C and I ran Prime95 (alone) and got a BSOD around 50min in. The dump showed the following:
Error: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT
Bug check description: This indicates that a severe memory management error occurred. A corrupted PTE has been detected.

I then ran the Microsoft Memory diagnostic tool and it came ok. I have also ran the 3dmark torture test for several hours and some games and have no problem.

My problem is that while I can return, using the warranty later would be difficult since right now I'm outside the US. I got this one with a discount so if I return I will loss it. What do you think guys, should I return or keep?

Hi @Lorcace  thank you for sharing update. Please return all settings to factory default. If you are not happy with your m17 R4, request a return within 30 days from invoice date.

Spoiler
Hi, I am just updating my problems. Using the Windows reliability tool I see many livekernelevent 141 117 errors (like 10 of them in the last week). In addition I got a black screen once again (for a total of two, and one BSOD since I got the laptop).

In all cases there are  some livekernelevent 141 117 errors at the same time the black screens occur. In other cases it appears that there were some of these errors without me even noticing.

Every setting is stock now by the way.

Should I return? Will it be possible if right now I'm not in the US? Am I even allowed to send the return shipment from outside USA?

Hi @Lorcace  thank you for sharing update. This is a user to user discussion forum. Users do not work for Dell and volunteer their free time in the Dell Community. This forum is English, but not US specific.

You should ask Dell Product Support these questions because the answer is slightly different from country to country, and depends on the type of Dell warranty you purchased. Click on envelope icon in top RH corner, to send Private Message to @DELL-Cares and request assistance.
