Area-51m R2, ram speed 3200MHz
So I recently opened my area 51m r2 to see the ram speed. And as you can see, on this picture of the ram it says 3200. Even in cpu-z it says the max capacity for both my ram sticks are 3200.
Now the issue is that I don't know how to get my ram to run at 3200. I think the bios is locked because I have a 10700 but since the motherboard is z490, theoretically I should be able to run 3200MHz. I'm just too dumb to know how. Can anyone help.
Specs:
10700
2x8 2933 ram (purchased info but as the picture shows it is 3200 ram.)
2080 super

You'd need a different CPU; the memory speed is controlled by the CPU and has been for quite a few generations of Intel CPU.

While the memory is capable of running at 3200, the CPU is not.

Hi @rkbot if your Dell invoice says 2x8 2933 RAM, please raise fault ticket. If your Dell invoice says 2x8 3200 RAM and you did not check when system delivered, that is what you have been billed for and seeming accepted after the first 30 days.
There are problems with the Area-51m R2 and its RAM [Example]. Even if not purchasing from Corsair, their recommendations are usually very good. If you buy from Corsair, they will accept returns.

The 10700K has exactly the same memory spec as the 10700. By default, it runs RAM at 2933 MHz.

The K CPU can be overclocked; the 10700 cannot -- depending on your system, you may be able to overclock the RAM as well (but bear in mind though the 10700K is overclockable, the results of doing so are never guaranteed). You may be able to overclock - or you may not.

I’ve had Alienware laptops for the last 12 years. My current is a area51mr1. I don’t know if Dell/Alienware did something differently with the r2 of the area51m but I’m running a 9900k @5.1ghz, 32gb of 3200mhz ram that only runs at 2300mhz like every other one of my previous laptops. It’s because Dell locks down the bios and doesn’t allow you to turn on the rams XMP profiles which would allow you to overclock it up to its rated ram speed of 3.2ghz. It has nothing to do with your Cpu as mine is running at 5.1ghz and my ram is still locked at 2.3ghz that Dell/Alienware always locks us at. Even with desktop systems , I’ve installed plenty of high speed ram and they always only showed up at 2.3ghz until I adjusted the dram settings in the bios, almost always by enabling XMP for the ram, and then choosing it’s rated speed.

Alienware Area51m R1 has not in BIOS option to adjust speed of DRAM or enabling XMP, this is problem from first day when Area51m come to market and DRAMS run only max 2400MHz even that specifications in manual presenting deferent data.
Thousands buyers across the world was rip off with this fraud.
It is look like that Area51m R2 suffering with the same problem.

Yu are right bro.
I have the same problem Area51m R1 9900K, RTX2080, DRAM 2x16 SK Hynix 2666MHz from Dell, laptop unlocked for overclocking by Dell, in documentation is stated 2x16 in two slots will run 2666MHz. Never ever run on 2666MHz. I installed this two modules in Dell G3 an they runed on 2666MHz no problem.
So from Dell this was marketing trick and fraud and looks like that also R2 and x15 and x17 affected with this issue also.

hey to all of the people i have an alienware aurora 10 and i had the same problem i have 3200 ram and it did at one point show 3200 for both sticks and for a while i couldnt figure out why, but threw some time what i noticed is that if i updated my drivers with dells driver update it would always change my ram to only one stick showing 3200 and the other like 2600 or 2900 anyways i tired going to Nividia geforce drivers downloads and downloading the driver there both now seem to be always 3200 and if i go back to dell and do it always goes back, works great i do get a message that says its not supposed to run at that speed which i find odd as i have no issue which that speed no overheating or nothing so possible a problem with dells site dont know but try that for your cpu see if it works
