m17 R2, touchpad lifting

After 30 mins or so when using my m17 R2, the touchpad lifts along the top edge just below the space bar. It lifts about 2mm. If I press it down, it goes down again and then later on it lifts up again. The touchpad works and registers touch etc but clearly that's not right. Adhesive not right? Something else?

The battery is located right under there and is almost certainly swollen.  Remove the base cover and check -- any sign of swelling:  get rid of the battery immediately and replace it ASAP (the system will run on AC only, but leaving a swollen battery in the system is both a safety hazard and a physical hazard). It will continue swelling until it either bursts (the safety hazard) and possibly catches fire, or completely destroys the computer casing, touchpad and mainboard.

had the back off. it's not the battery.

that's abslutely fine and not blown at all.

whn you push down on the trackpad, there's a slight sound you get when something underneath is tacky

You'll need to check under the touchpad to see what's there - meaning you'll need to remove the palmrest assembly.

Um, I don’t mean to be rude @U2CAMEB4ME but he’s talking about the m17 r2 and not the older 2015 model of the 17 series if I’m right?

No problem @Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006

Instead of being rude you could have tried to contribute or inquire.

@Lancer3397

To better assist you, the members and I would need the exact model number of your laptop/desktop???

Identify your Dell:

In addition to what @U2CAMEB4ME said,

Make sure if you are going to post your service tag to a dell admin or go to the dell.com site and go to the support page that has the product support label on it.
