This is -- at best -- incomplete advice.

Firstly, this may or may not fix the problem, since we don't know why it is happening.

Secondly and more importantly, running dpnctl stop and dpnctl start will completely restart the Avamar server software. If the system does not shut down cleanly for any reason, a rollback to the most recent checkpoint would be required and this may lead to data loss.

It is critically important to take a checkpoint before restarting the Avamar software. This can be done through the Avamar Administrator GUI, through AUI, or using mccli.
