Avamar backup not working while mcAfee is active

Both Avamar and the anti-virus software perform a scan of the file system as part of their work.

If both activities run at the same time they will be fighting for disk I/O.  Make sure to avoid this scenario in order for Avamar to perform acceptably..

Even when the a/v software is not scanning the file-system it will still be monitoring the activities of other running software.  To prevent it from interfering with Avamar backups you should consider configuring the a/v software so that it excludes Avamar's avs directory from any such monitoring.

We run McAfee ePO, and we have configured the avtar.exe as a Low-Risk process.  This means VirusScan will not scan all the files that avtar.exe is accessing while still keeping your system secure by not excluding entire directories or processes from being scanned altogether.
