Can't install SQL plug-in; Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll version error
I am trying to install the Avamar SQL plug in for 7.2 version to back up the SQL DB's. The server uses Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.
I try to run the SQL plug-in and right away I get a pop-up error stating:
Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll version does not match the latest SQL Server installation found on the system. Please update your SQL SMO DLL before running this installer again.
Required version: 10.x.x.x
What does this error mean and how can I get the SQL plug in properly installed?

I think similar errors were found in Avamar Version 7.1.1. Please get in touch with Support to rectify this Issue.

Hi, I'm getting the exact same error. You replied to the original poster to contact Support, will this require you to remote into the server to check/fix this issue?

Please check this KB, https://support.emc.com/kb/456712, it looks like we must apply a HF; HF234957
Installation does not begin: error received: Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll version does not match the latest SQL server installation found on the system. Please update your SQL SMO DLLs before running this installer again. Required version x.x.x.x
SQL SMO version does not need to match SQL server version exactly, but can be of higher version.
