Has there been any updates to this in Avamar 5 SP3? We don't want to use independent disks and would like to only backup a single virtual drive within the Virtual Machine.
From EMC guys and EMC's project manager. We are implementing Avamar and this functionnality is present inside the product we have to replace, so we are requesting it.
We upgraded to Avamar 6.0.0-529 and it is still not possible to exclude single drives from a VMware image level backup without configuring it to independent persistent on the VMware side.
Yes they told us that it 's possible in Avamar 5 when we bought it, and after they said to wait for Avamar6, and finally, at the last second, they said "oups, no, sorry, probably in 6.1 at the end of 2011"

We are using Avamar 5.0 SP3 and there is still no option to exclude specific drives.
The only way is still to use independent disks.

Just a short update.

I got an answer to my Enhancement Request.
Hopefully they will not remove this feature during the final testing
