If you have the model with two storage processors, you must use a UPS to enable write caching.
Unless you got a second hand or refurbished unit, it is not sold without the required UPS. The AX is looking for signal from the UPS on the UPS serial port. (the one with the little picture of a battery next to it) Without that, write caching will not work.
it means that that the single controller AX150 cannot have a write cache enabled, since the UPS is not foreseen for it?
The single controller offerings of AX150 do support Write Cache, by use of battery-protected memory, which "holds" data in memory in the event of a power outage. The dual controller offerings of AX150 utilize the UPS to allow data in Write Cache to be saved to physical disk in the event of a power outage.
