When you reran the initialization wizard, and found the unitialized array you were able to get to the first screen of the wizard but SPB was greyed out correct? This means that SPA cannot see SPB through the network and you will not be able to make any changes to the network on SPB from SPA through the initialization wizard or the setup page of SPA. First I would try to connect directly to the port on SPB and rerun the initialization wizard to see if you can connect directly to SPB which will fail if your IP really ends in zero. The address listed for SPB that you found listed on SPA's setup page, 10.0.4.0, is not a valid address. Your only option now may be to connect to SPB using hyperterminal and the serial cable. I've done it once when I typo'd an IP.
Here are the instructions from EMC234675; after you connect I believe you'll have a menu of options, one of which will allow you to modify the IP (add some digits to the zero in the fourth octet of SPBs IP Addy).
I. CONNECTING TO SP USING SERIAL CABLE and HYPERTERMINAL
Note: You can use PUTTY as well.
First click Start-> Programs-> Accessories > Communications HyperTerminal.
Second enter the name of the connection (your choice), and click OK.
Under connect using select “COM1” and click OK.
Connect null modem serial cable from Workstation COM1/COM2 to front serial port on the CLARiiON.
Configure HyperTerminal connection for the CLARiiON using the following settings:
Connect using: COM1 or COM2 and click Apply.
Bits per second: 9600 Data bits: 8 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Flow Control: None (verify that Auto detect and ANSI are selected for terminal emulation if an option).
Note: Make sure that you set the following in thelinked illustrationon your HyperTerminal session from “File > Properties > Settings.”
Click Transfer > Capture text > Browse to the location and name the file and click Start.
II. DIRECTIONS FOR PPP CONNECTION FOR XP
You can use this to run EMCRemote into SP as well.
To set up the direct serial port connection to the array follow these steps:
Note: Remote Access Services and Network and Dial-Up Settings are installed by default during the initial installation of Windows 2000.
When the Network Connection Wizard starts, click Next to begin.
Select "Set up and advanced connection" ->Next->" Connect directly to another computer" button and click Next.
Click the Guest button.
Click Next. Name the connection (whatever you would like), Click Next.
On the Select a Device pull down menu, select Communications between two computers (COM1) or select COM2 if the cable is connected to COM2 and click Next.
On Connection Availability window, select "Anyone's use."
Click Next.
Click Finish.
The Connect dialog box with the name that you assigned to it displays (prompting with user name and password fields).
Click the Properties button.
In the Properties dialog box under the General tab make sure COM1 or COM2 (if connected to it) and click the Configure button (enable hardware flow control should be checked).
In the Modem Configuration dialog box click the Maximum Speed pull down menu and select 115200 bps. Click OK to close the Modem Configuration dialog box.
If prompted for flow control..Flow Control: None (verify that Autodetect and ANSI are selected for terminal emulation)
** Flow control is hardware, and data bits is 8, Parity None, Stop bits 1...This is for HyperTerminal
Note: Verify that the computer or Service Laptop is correctly configured to receive the IP address from the FC4700 array. Click the Networking tab of the Properties dialog box, highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click Properties. Under the General tab verify that the Obtain an IP address automatically and Obtain DNS server address automatically buttons are both selected. Click Cancel to back out of that menu or click OK to accept any changes that you have made.
Click OK to close the Properties dialog box.
In the User name field enter the following: clariion.
In the Password field enter the following: clariion!.
Check the Save Password check box to save the password.
Thanks for the reply Tengage, unfortunately coming into the array via PPP does not enable the IP network fields in the 'setup' menu so I cannot modify IP. Is there a way to do a full factory reset on the array as I am growing very impatient and not getting anywhere. I have nothing setup on this array, it is straight out of the box and only SP-A has an IP as SP-B glitched out at 0.0.0.0 according to the init wizard when you look at the SP-A settings.
Please Destroy the domain security and restart the Navisphere Management server on SPA via the http:\\SPAipaddress\setup and then try to re-initialize the array using the Navisphere Storage System Initialization tool
Note:If the Navisphere Storage System Initialization tool does not discover the storage system, wait five minutes for internal services on the storage system to complete.
Incase you need to do a factory reset on the array you will have to engage EMC field services or EMC Support as it requires a complete Data Invalidate on the and an image reload.
Thanks Sadik, unfortunately I've attempted this several times & SP-B is not available to IP in the init wizard regardless of destroying domain security not only in the SP-B via PPP connection to setup page as well as destroying domain security on the SP-A.
Will have to turn to EMC at this point since there is no easy fix for this problem.
You only need to follow section one. After you plug in your serial cable and follow the instructions for configuring a hyperterminal session, you'll get a nice menu of commands (around 10) and one of the options is to adjust your network settings.
I believe if for whatever reason the SP IP address ends in 0 then your only option is to connect with the serial cable. You won't be able to access the .0 address through an ethernet port or from the partner SP.

Connect using: COM1 or COM2 and click Apply.
Bits per second: 9600 Data bits: 8 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Flow Control: None (verify that Auto detect and ANSI are selected for terminal emulation if an option).
Note: Make sure that you set the following in the linked illustrationon your HyperTerminal session from “File > Properties > Settings.”
Click Transfer > Capture text > Browse to the location and name the file and click Start.
I had attempted only serial/hyperterminal connection the other day. I will capture screen output today when I attempt this again. I was only able to get response from the SP-B if I rebooted the SP, otherwise I don't get any character response via the hyperterminal once it is up. During boot I can't view the otput, I briefly see a 'password:' prompt but it flashes by so quickly during the boot process I can't even interface with it. The SP then hangs during a part of the boot process & doesn't accept any character input from the session which is why I attempted the PPP as I figured the telnet direct wasn't the correct way to interface.
Regardless I will grab screen capture of the boot, certainly open to suggestions.
When you connect ot a serial port on an SP using hyperterm, and view a poer up, the output will only go to a certain point (normally you would see a message with that starts with "int13 - READ Perameters (1513)"
the numbers will differe for different arrays, but this will be all you will see.
If i understand your issue, have you tried a PPP connection to the SP and tried to use http://192.168.1.1/setup in the url field of a browser.
This should allow you to set the SP ip and the Per ip and gateway for this SP?
Note...PPP will only work if the SP boots up completly (ie. boot LED is off and not flashing).
If you want to do a factory init, this will need to be done by EMC as it is a password protected activity..
A factory init will remove all user info and lun/RG setups, will leave you with Ip's most likely set at 1.1.1.1
Hi Jim, yes exactly, I only see so much during console & boot, then I can't do anything more. I have checked PPP & connected to both the problem SP-B & good working SP-A via the http://ip/setup and neither of them allow you to change any network information via the PPP connection. However if you connect to the good working SP-A via its actual IP (non-PPP) you do see the networking information and can change IP, but peer for the problem SP-B won't work as according to Tengage on an early reply if a SP has a x.x.x.0 IP it can't be modified via normal means. Anyways, have opened a case with EMC, so will see what happens.
The clariion/clariion password, the one listed by Tengage in the first reply here regarding PPP connection setup. Is there another which will give me network access?

Thast one should work...
you could try clariion1992/clariion1992 as well.
See if that makes a difference.
