Best Practice / Procedure for Failover testing.
Hi all,
My Question:
We would like to conduct a Failover test and I am hoping that someone can guide me to a 'Best Practices' guide for this procedure. Or if anyone has carried out failover tests for their environments, are there any details to watch out for?
A step-by-step guide for failing -over the arrays would be ideal.
Brief description of kit: We have two Clariions - CX3-40f (Production) and CX3-20 (DR). They are configured to replicate using MirrorView/A.

Welcome to the EMC Support Forums.
On this topic, I hope others will comment more. However, I am not sure whether these boxes and MirrorView are already in production or whether they are new installs? You may contact EMC Professional Services (PS) team for EMC suggestions or guidelines for the testing or acceptance test.
Thanks,
Sandip

These arrays were installed and accepted early last year. Replication between the two is done using MirrorView/A.
Array1 (Production): CX3-40f
Array2 (DR - Remote site): CX3-20
I can't ssem to locate any guidelines/best practice procedures for Failover / DR testing.

What applications are you looking to failover? Exchange, oracle, SQL, file servers, VMWare?
I assume you're looking to:
1. Simulate failure at your production site
2. Pause replication
3. Bring up DR site
4. Failover replication to replicate DR data to production
5. Bring down DR site
6. Pause replication
7. Bring up Production Site
8. Continue replicating to DR site
Are these the steps what you were thinking, or are you looking for more basic failover?
