CX-300 shows only 2paths

recently we connected a CX-300 to HP-UX server.we are getting only two paths to the LUN.do we need to use power path to get all the 4paths to the LUN?

our connectivity is as follows-SPA0&SPB0 is connected to Switch0(SW0) ,SPA1&SB1 to SW1 , HBA1 to SW0 and HBA2 to SW1.we did the zoning properly.while doing the ioscan in HP it's showing only two paths.is it something to do with the powerpath?

any help

thanks,

mohan

mohan,

if you are not using powerpath then you are using native pvlinks ?

take a look at "Host Connectivity guide for HPUX" , particularly page 115. It describes failover mode settings you need to select. You can find this guide here:

Home > Support > Technical Documentation and Advisories > Host Connectivity/HBAs > Installation/Configuration

also take a look at solution emc61066

Hi Mohan,

HBA1 to SW0 and HBA2 to SW1
How many zones you have created? 2 or 4?

do you have zones like this?
HBA1 to SW0(SPA0)
HBA1 to SW0(SPB0)
HBA2 to SW1(SPA1)
HBA2 to SW1(SPB1)

:-)

If you have PowePath installed, check to see if the version is licensed or unlicensed:

powermt check_registration

If PowerPath is unlicensed, it will see only two paths. Check Connectivity Status on the array to see if there are four paths listed - remember that with HP-UX the paths will only show logged in when there is IO - use ioscan and see if the paths show logged in.

all HBA's logged in.status shows 'YES'.

From conectivity status, do you see all four paths are registered?

If you are not using powerpath then failover mode should be"0".select the HBA from connectivity status and click info from same window to see current failover mode.

hello sir,
we are not using power path.r u sure it's the reason that we are getting only two paths.in connectivity status all the paths showing logged in ,all the HBA's are shoing green. i am also suspecting it's a power path issue.

Mohan-

How you can connect one HBA to two diffrent switches?
In your case, both HBAs are going to SW1 and SW2.

Is there any reason for putting two SP ports in one zone?? if not
This is what I want you to do

SW1
HBA1 - SPA0
HBA1 - SPB0

SW2
HBA2 - SPA1
HBA2 - SPB1

If you want to have two SP ports in one zone :-) then first find out which SP ports are going in fabric A and fabric B, and then make zones accordingly.
