CX500 adding new DAE 2P

Hi all,
im trying to attach a second DAE2P to my cx500 (FLARE-Operating-Environment 02.26.500.5.010) using NST.
All seems to work OK during the environment check but, when it asks me to physically connect the first cable from the "EXP" connector of the old DAE to the "PRI" connector of the new DAE nothing appens!!!
The yellow bar remains "yellow" :-)
i''ve tried to change cable but nothing even if, when i physically connect the two DAE the led that indicates chain between them turns on.

Thanks un advance

Carlo

Before you added the DAE did you change the enclosure address on the enclosure to reflect the spot it was going to be in on the chain? If not then most likely you hit the duplicate enclosure error and it shunted the last LCC on that chain (so nothing past it will mess with the bus).

Go into Navisphere right click the SP and hit view events (check both SP's events). Find the time that you were adding the DAE and see if there is something that says "shunted" in it.

If so, then you would need to reboot each SP (doesn't have to be at the same time), and try again. Before rebooting, disconnect the new DAE.

Ok, so you have the new DAE in place (mounted). Make sure the DAE only has power (no LCC cables connected to the previous DAE). Now make sure the enclosure number is set to 1. Then connect the B side cable from the EXP port of 1_0 to the PRI port of the new enclosure (B side to B side). Then do the same for the A side. Restart management server and see if the new DAE shows in Navisphere.

If not, then you may need to reboot each SP. If this doesn't work then you may want to get a case opened with support.

...on BUS 1 where im connecting the new DAE there is only one DAE (bus 1 enclosure 0) and the new DAE is (that should be BUS 1 Enclosure 1) is exactly the same part number!!!!.
On the other BUS i have 4 DAE (2 of them ATA)

A couple more questions for you...

How many DAEs are on each loop of the array already?

Did the DAE cables come with the DAE? I ask this because I have seen people try to use aftermarket cables that look the same but will not work.

Sorry this is being difficult for you. This is usually a easy and painless process. Follow the steps Ryan outlined and hopefully that will resolve the issue for you.

No :(
Like AranH said: this usually is a very painless process.....

Before rebooting 1 SP at a time (and wait until it's up and running again!!!) make sure each attached host has working connectivity to both SP's (with failover software in place)
No Events found!
