Have you enabled SMNP on the SP's?

Right click on SPA and select Properties, on the Network tab at the bottom of the page see if the SMNP Read requests are enabled. Click on the HELP button while on the tab:

Enable/Disable processing of SNMP MIB read requests Enables or disables the SNMP service on the SP.

SNMP Community Lets you change the name of the group (SNMP community) that includes devices and management stations that are running SNMP.

Sorry, but that has no impact on sending SNMP traps, it only affects the response of the array to snmp get requests. This is completely separate from the handling of traps.

The the template properties page/snmp tab has a test button. Use a network sniffer to see if the snmp trap packet is sent where it is sent. Then make sure the NMS gets it and is not just tossing it away.

The issue was we were entering a host name and not an IP address as a trap target.

Hi, we should download the MIB file, see emc70293 - How can I enable my CLARiiON array to respond to SNMP inquiries without Navisphere Event Monitor.htm.
Besides, If SNMP is used, ¿Combine Events for Storage System¿ must be unchecked in the call-home template.

Use the Navisphere GUI: expand the domain and storage system
parts of the tree. RMB click on SP-A. Select properties and click
on the Network tab. At the bottom of the tab, set the check box
for "Enable/Disable processing ...SNMP ...". The community
string can be set (for recent versions of Navisphere). Repeat for
SP-B.

The cli can also be used; see the networkadmin sub-command.

Besides, If SNMP is used, ¿Combine Events for Storage
System¿ must be unchecked in the call-home template.

Responding to SNMP queries is completely independent of the
EventMonitor settings (which affect only the sending of
SNMP traps).

Hi.

How can I set the SNMP community for a Clariion with older versions of Navisphere? I can select to enable or disable the SNMP read request, but can't set the community within the SP's. Is there a way to set that?

On the old clariion the community can't be set and is public

On newer clariion :

Community can be set in the property of call home template in navisphere .

Highlight call home template in navisphere ---> Right click ---> Property ----> SNMP tab .

Prior to Release 28 the community string is "public". It can
be changed by service personnel.
