Can a host exist in multiple storage groups on the same array?
Can a host exist in multiple storage groups on the same array? Running Flare code 02.19.700.5.27
Goal:
Provision storage to clustered servers serverA serverB
Servers would have dedicated storage so there would be 2 storage groups named serverA and ServerB.
Then servers would have shared storage provisioned via a storage group called serverA-serverB.
Thanks

a server can connect to only one Storage Group per storage system at a time. If you connect a server that already connects to a Storage Group to another Storage Group, the server will disconnect from the first Storage Group. When you disconnect a server from a Storage Group, and then connect it to a different Storage Group, the server can no longer perform I/O to the first Storage Group.

I HAVE NOT done this myself yet, but I have talked to several people who are doing this successfully.
So in your case you would have a storage group for ServerA and one for ServerB. The LUNs to be dedicated to ServerA just go in that group, while the LUNs for ServerB are just in the ServerB group. Any LUNs to be shared get put in both groups and both servers can see them.
Hope this helps, and I suggest testing carefully first since I can't vouch for this solution personally. The docs say it should work and others have told me it works... I just haven't tried it out at my site.
