Changing the management IP of an AX150 already in production
Hello all,
I was wondering what is the correct procedure for changing the management IPs of a CLARiiON AX150 that is already in production. I tried changing it during our "patching downtime" but it gave me pretty scary messages:
1) I tried using the Navisphere Server Initialization utility but it told me that since it was already initialized, I was unable to change it.
2) I went to "http://currentIP/setup" but then it told me that it first had to be disjoined from some sort of "domain". It didn't make any sense to me so I stopped at this point (didn't want to loose the data).
Is there a way to change the IP once it has been setup? Or do I have to re-initialize the whole thing (losing virtual disks, etc)?
Thanks,
MacAddict

Power down the AX150 and then power it back up holding the power button in for 4 seconds. Remember, hold it in for four seconds and then release it.
Let the AX150 power fully up and then run the initialization wizard. Once you run it you can change the IP address and administrator password if needed. Now if you miss the 4 seconds or don't hold it in long enough when the AX150 boot, just shut it down and try again until it becomes unitialized.
Remember, this does not delete data and only changes the IP and administrator settings. All you virtual disks are still there.

Click on "How do I change the storage system management IP address(es)?"
This provides slightly more detailed steps than mentioned above.

Thanks for ur response.
The problem I am having is uninitializing the array. I have tried the procedure reinitialization procedure several times without luck. According to thios article, http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/storage/f/3412/t/19371198.aspx ,If the first 4 drives are not emc supplied, the array is uninitializable. Is that correct? I am not sure about the drives and even the order they are installed. Thanks

This is the AX100, but the layout of the OS disks (where the flare is stored) is the same as the AX150. The first four disks across the top, 0-3, contain the operating system for the array. The physical disk sectors are formatted at 520 instead of the normal 512. This means that you can not use off-the-shelf disks. You must get replacement disks from EMC. In addition, the OS on the first four disks are specific to the slot when configured - once a disk is in its slot, you can not move it to another slot.. If these are not the original disks that came with the array (OS disks), then the array will not function properly (will not boot).
