How do I register a diskless server?

Yup, I'm a newb to EMC as well as SANs. I have a CX3-20c, with a DS-4400M switch and a couple of IBM x3950s with Emulex HBAs. I'm wanting to boot the 3950s off the SAN but can't figure out how to register the HBAs without having any software installed. Please help.

Thanks, Clif

I figured it out...I simply needed to start the OS install. In this case VMware ESX.

another good tip:
Go to the HBA bios, and start: scan for the luns.
It usually logs in to the switch and the array too...

That didn't work for me - I assumed that it would. Rather, it presented 8 LUNs with blank addresses and at the time I had only created 2 LUNs.

you can also manually register the hbas in the connectivity status..though you need to be very sure about the entire WWN
