Question

Are there ill affects in having two LUNs of the same RAID group in a MetaLUN Component?

if you can ..try to put them in different raid groups to get the extra spindles (more IOPS) ..but if it's for a non IO intensive app ..you will be ok.

Be careful. All of the 'best practices' frown when you use multiple luns within the same RG for a meta. If possible, try increasing the size of your luns within each RG so that you don't need to have more than 1 component within a given RG...
