When you create a metalun it should not go into a faulted condition. If you striped the meta then it would probably go into a transitional state until the striping had finished.
Check the metalun state via the GUI. It should be enabled. (rt click on metalun and goto properties. Should be the first line in the general tab)
If it is degraded then this would be the reason the metalun shows faulted...if it is shutdown then it will be unuseable.
you can also run naviseccli command to examine the metalun states..
naviseccli -h metalun -list -state
this will list the state of all metaluns on your system.
I had an issue once with a degraded metaLUN and the way we solved it was by rebooting one of the SP's. After the reboot the Clariion (a CX500) saw both components of the metaLUN again and the metaLUN was up and running again. The only issue we had at the time was the metaLUN, all other LUN's on both SP's were fine, but still..... we needed a reboot to get this metaLUN up and running again.

Hi,
At CX level when we go to Properties > Fault, it says :
"The array is operating normally"
At Lun level Lun Folder > Metalun > Properties >Statistics shows :
Read Throughput[IO/s] : Unavailable
Write Throughput[IO/s] : Unavailable
Read Bandwidth [KB/s] : Unavailable
Write Bandwidth [KB/s] : Unavailable
Number of Trespass : Unavailable

You should get the values once data logging is enabled.

There are some knowledgebase documents regarding metalun faults -
emc191540 (metalun faulted after added to RLP)
emc193749 (similar issue)
emc203965 (metalun shown as faulted/degraded after replacing BE cables/LCCs)
Do you have any matching condition? You can check these documents if you have a similar scenario.

Consty...this status is the reason for the fault.
Most likely one of the component luns has an issue, which has permeated the condition to the meta lun.
If you drill down to the component lun on the GUI on this particular metalun do any of these luns show faulted?
