What Celerra Model and what version of NAS code you are running?
There is no Navisphere agent on the Celerra Data mover and the Data Mover Initiator ports needs to be manually register in the CLARiiON Navisphere manager.
I understand this is a Gateway model. Specific procedure and steps need to be followed for the installation. I hope EMC engineer is doing the same for you.
Celerra has the NaviCLI software on it - you can run navicli commands from control station. But on the data movers, there is no Navi Agent - so the registration is manual. Don't worry about managing the data movers connectivity to the array - DART code on the Celerra does monitor the data movers using both serial connection as well as private Ethernet connection.
It's logged in and registered. I thought there might be a way for it's hostname to broadcast so that we can better manage the array's connectivity database. Logged in to the Celerra and noticed that is does have the Navisphere software but the agent was not running. Started the agent from CLI but still no luck.
Can I group edit the initiators online? If I do which host IP will I point to? The control station? Or is the only way to view them is by individual WWN as I see them now?
Is this box already installed and Online? If not, are you installing it on your own or EMC person is doing the same? If it is online, I 'll prefer not to do anything. Contact your EMC CE or EMC NAS support before doing anything.
The IP Addresses to be used for Data Mover port registration will be of Internal IP addresses for the data mover. You did not mention which version of 5.5. code you are running - but if the internal IP Addresses are in 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.2.0 subnets (older NAS codes prior to 5.5.32) then the IP Addresses to be used will be 192.168.1.2 (Data Mover 2 BE0), 192.168.2.2 (DM 2 BE1), 192.168.1.3 (DM3 BE0), 192.168.2.3 (DM3 BE1) and so on. If the code is 5.5.32 onwards the internal subnets are changed to 128.221.252.0 and 128.221.253.0 subnets - the last octate remains (for host) the same.
However, I like to reiterate, this is something your EMC Customer Engineer is required to do - so please get in touch with your EMC CE.
Hope things are going great at your end. Please let me know, if you have any more update or question on this. Or else, request you to kindly close this thread by marking it answered.
