you also need to consider how you are going to connect your servers to this array, probably the cheapest option would be to get an array that supports iSCSI. If you buy one that is all FC then you will need to buy HBA for your servers. It does become an expensive lab really fast.

I am trying to learn how to troubleshoot performance issues with sql server and wanted to setup an array with different drive configurations to see how I could increase/degrade performance. I was trying to find an array setup for less than 500 on ebay which is looking more and more difficult.
Thanks for your response. I thought the two 100-561-803 in the back were the controller/processor/brains. This home lab experiment definently got more expensive . I take they are just controllers, and I also need the storage processors. Are storage proccessors ever built in or are they usually some 1u size unit. Once again, sorry for the newb questions.
