ok.. I re-seated the memory in my faulty SP and now it has booted and pings but niether SP has gui or CLI access. So I found and installed EMCRemote, was able to remote into the SPs NT embedded OS but am not sure what service or app serves the gui interface.. I would think IIS but dont see any service related to a web server. Anyone with some knowledge on the guts of these things?

for an almost 10 year old, out of service, out of warranty, end of life product.. I don't think so.. this unit uses more power than its worth to run.. time for the dumpster.

on the CX200/400/600, you could get the array without the Management Server. If you're on the SP using recremote, the process if called K10 CIMOM if I remember correctly.

For the CX200 without management server, you need the off-array managerment server and off-array client for Navisphere 6 release 19. This may still be available on PowerLink.

Glen, I dont see a CIMON process running, only have K10Safetynet, K10Trace and K10Governer services/processes running. Something interesting is the NaviCLI runs locally on the SP, just not remotely.. did the networking bindings or drivers become hosed? I would think not since EMCRemote functions correctly. Its been ages since I've last worked on an NT box! As a side note, is there a way to forcefully update to release 19 given I only have one good SP?

What WWW server serves the Navisphere management page? I don't see any IIS, Apache or the like on the SP. I had hoped to boot to the management partition and just re-image the boot partition but apparently it was never installed

I don't belive you can update flare with just one operational SP - there is a check that runs and will fail on any hardware fault..

The server for the GUI is JAVA client/server - not a Windows function as far as I know. When you open IE and point to the SP IP address, it download soem java stuff to your desktop and runs from there. The service for the Management serve interface (Navisphere) is called NAVICIMON.exe and naviagent. If these are not running, then the array you have did not come with the Navisphere interface. You can use the Navisphere Off-array Management Server and Client.

On PowerLink this is where they are located:

Home > Support > Software Downloads and Licensing > Downloads J-O > Navisphere Manager

Navisphere Manager 6.19 Upgrades

Navisphere Off-Array Management Server (Windows)  6.19.5.1.0

Navisphere Off-Array User Interfaces (UIs) (Windows) 6.19.5.0.0

You will also need version 19 of Navisphere CLI

Home > Support > Software Downloads and Licensing > Downloads J-O > Navisphere Server Software

Windows Navisphere Server Software 6.19

Navisphere Host Agent/CLI (Windows) 6.19.5.0.0

Glen, I appreciate the help with this. I do know for a fact it had built-in navisphere interface.. I was able to get into just a couple weeks ago.. it was only after I had swapped the SPs arround a few times trying to diagnose a problem with a faulted SP that something must have corrupted and I lost the management WebGUI. I have the Naviagent process running but not the navicimon process.. as a matter of fact I searched the drive for that executable and its not there.. strange. I have tried reinstalling navisphere base 02.04.0.40.0.5.002 and managementserver 6.4.0.5.2 as these were on the drive already. I have also downloaded and reinstaller activeperl 522 with no luck. EMCs system of files and patchwork are greek at best! I wonder if teamviewer or logmein would run on NT so I could get a fresh set of eyes on this thing.

Navicimon is the controling process for the interface - is the older versions of flare (flare 22 and lower), Agent was a separate process. Agnt is the process that passes information/commands to flare. If Agent is not running, you can issue CLI commands to the flare or use the GUI interface for management of flare. The only way to restart Agent is to reboot the SP's. In flare 24 they changed that so that you can restart Agent from the "IP_Address/setup" interface. This setup interface is different from the regular GUI interface - it is not cimon.

Is this the interface that you were running before the problems started to get worst?

The way engineering created the image (took a lot of stuff out and addes special stuff in), I'm not sure you could install a different remote connection software. The remote access software is emcremote - there is a server running on the array, the client runs on the host.

Glen, just so we're on the same page here, the Cx400 has 6.04.xx Flare running on it. I was not able to upgrade the flare because I have a bad SP. This also presents a problem because USM is not compatable with this very old flare version and NST is nowhere to be found on powerlink's site. Both NaviAgent and NaviCIMOM processes are running on the SP but the Navisphere Java applet never launches. Perhaps if I could find newer base and management NDU packages I could get a little further with it but at this point it is still unmanagable via WebGui or CLI.

Also, I was able to install RealVNC as an alternative to EMCRemote to remotely manage the SPs OS

In Flare 6.04 (flare 12), you right click on the array icon in Navisphere and select Software Operations / Software Installation Wizard.

maybe we're talking about two different things here.. I thought "flare" was the firmware/software package loaded onto the array/SPs? I'm not sure what Navisphere you are talking about.. there is the Naphisphere CLI and NST thats not available as far as I know. Here are some screen caps, first is the running processes on the SP. Second is the error I get when trying to connect to the SP from USM. Third is error from NaviCLI
