Question on Migration and Expantion
Here is the Background.
I have a CX4-240 and would like to migrate a LUN from a SATA array to a FC array.
I have done this in the past with no issues.
But the questions is: while migration to the FC array can that distanation LUN be larger to add more space?
Or is this a 2 step process? Migrate then expand??
If it can be done in one shot. How will windows preceive the change in the LUN size?
Side note. The LUN's are mounted to ESX 3i guests and they are windows 2003 R2 guest O/S.

Are you migrating to another array or you want to migrate to another disk type (FC) in the same array ?

ok, you probably meant to say FC DAE/Raid group
you can definitely use Clariion LUN migrator to move your datastore from SATA to FC LUN, where FC LUN is larger in size. Once that is done you will need to extend your datastore and only then you can extend your VMs space. There are multiple ways to increase size of VMDK file:

btw ..if you have license for Storage VMotion then it's much easier.

Thanks for the reply...
One issue in using the VMDK extendor would be the Volume the would be migrated is a RAW volume.

If it’s raw volume it’s even easier, once migrated to FC LUN ..on the VM go into diskpart, type “rescan”, then type “list volume”. Look for the volume you just migrated and type “select volume #volume_number”, after that type “extend”.
