Recreate MetaLUN under clone group

I have a metaLUN under clone group . I need to re-create the metalun into normal LUN( without meta). Clone is in fractured state. Do i need to remove the clonegroup and recreate again ? or If I give same LUN number to the new LUN, I can continue use the same clone group.

Can't you simply migrate the metalun to the normal lun with "migrate" feature ?

I think you will have to remove the metalun from the clone group, recereate it, and add it back into the clone group. Remember that the LUN number is just a 'friendly' number for the GUI and enduser. The array actually refers to the LUN by a hexadecimal number. So even if you use the same LUN number when you recreate it the hex number will change.

MetaLUNs can not be changed back to normal LUNs - if you have no more LUN numbers available, you will need to "DESTROY" the metaLUN first (losing all data) which will also destroy the component LUNs. Once you do this, you should have a couple of LUN numbers that you can use to create a new LUN - depending on the number of component LUNs in the meta.

Also, the raid groups that contain the component LUNs will now have extra space remaining, but if the component LUNs within the raid groups were created in the middle of the RG, you will only be able to use the free, contiguous space - right click on the RG containing the component LUNs and look at the last tab on the right - this will show you where in the raid group the LUNs is located. Remember that you can only create LUNs with free, contiguous space.

I believe that you will have to remove the metaLUN from the clone group before you can do any of the above (not real clear on this point, maybe someone else with more experience with clones can help).

You actually have 2048 LUN's ? Waaw. I never met anyone who reached that number.
