Replication requirements between different generations of CLARiiON arrays

CLARiiON Product Marketing is looking for some direct customer feedback to the replication requirements between different generations of CLARiiON systems. We are evaluating the interoperability policy so your inputs to the following questions would be much appreciated:

Do you have requirements to replicate data between N and N-2 CLARiiON arrays (for example, between CX3-40 and CX600 arrays) using MirrorView/S or MirrorView/A?

If replication using MirrorView/S or MirrorView/A is only supported between N and N-1 CLARiiON arrays (for example, between CX3-40 and CX700 arrays), how big a problem would it be?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I guess it wont be a big problem. EMC can instead buyback CX600's (via partners). Why will a customer will want to use a CX600 and CX3-80 for mirror view S (particularly). If so the host will still work at CX600's speed.

For E.g a CX3-80 fully configured with 4GBps disks, 4 GB SAN Infra and HBA's on hosts 4G capable, will have to wait for a write ack from CX600.(Dosent sound like a good idea :-).

Having said that EMC will have to keep support for softwares like SAN Copy across all generations for sure.
Thanks,
Navin.
