SMBus read failed for device local SPD DIMM3.

I find the below warning alert in the 'CLARiiON' event viewer very often.

I have checked with EMC at the beginning stage, but they said to ignore this alert.

But i see this alert very often, please advise.

"SMBus read failed for device Local SPD DIMM3. Failure occured at 12C addr 0xA4 after 28800 unsuccessful attempts. Device error."

Yes,  as EMC said, you can ignore this alert.  You normally get it when you have a CX4-120/240/480.  it is from the system polling for memory sticks or something that your model does not have.

I manage (2) Cx4-240's and they both give this alert in event monitor.   If it is actually sending you email alert,  you can edit the email home template and uncheck it

there is a primus article out there forit but dont know it off the top of my head.

Umesh,

What version of FLARE are you running and what is the model of your array?  This is a known issue with all releases of FLARE29 on CX4-120/CX4-240 models.  You will receive these alerts for DIMMs 1/3 on a CX4-120 and DIMMs 2/3 on a CX4-240 array.  There is no fix planned for FLARE29 and the fix is only in FLARE30.  Please refer to EMC knowledgbase solution emc222703, if FLARE cannot be upgraded the only workaround is to deselect the 0x71324001 array event within the monitoring template.
