Selecting drives when creating RAID groups

Hello,

I have a CX3-40f with both FC and SATA drives (different enclosures). When I create a RAID group I would like the option of selecting specific types of drives based on the application that will be using the LUN (certain applications to the larger, slower SATA drives, other apps to the faster FC drives). Whenever I create a new RAID group, it only presents the first drives it sees and only the number of disks that I indicated would be in the RAID group. For example, when I create a RAID 5 RAID group with 3 drives, it will only show me the first 3 FC drives that it finds.

Is there a way to see all the drives and select the specific type that I want?

In the "Create New RG" screen, select "manual" in the "Disk Selection" section near the bottom - above the list of the disks.

Also, get the "EMC CLARiiON Best Practices for Fibre Channel Storage: Flare Release 2x Firmware Update" - get the one that matches you array flare version.

This is for release 26:

No, it has been around for quite a while.

Also keep in mind that if you are creating RAID 10 groups then you have to use the cli if you want to specify the member pairs.

Thanks for the quick response. Works great!!

I had looked at the manual selection before, but did not notice the "select" button. Is this a new feature with 3.26 (I just upgraded from 3.24)?

I would love to, but could not figure out how. The message at the top indicates that I needed to use the "helpful" or "correct" buttons, but they don't seem to be available (sorry, novice user).

Right next to each post in this thread.
So every post (from everyone that has a post here) had 2 buttons right next to it. Perhaps they aren't visible ? Scroll to the right, they might be just out of sight.

The buttons were indeed simply out of view. Thanks for your patience with an obvious newbie...
