Unable to get weekly SPS test Email Notification ?

Hi,

We just install a new CX4 SAN with FLARE 29.   We have set up SPS test on Sundays.  However, we are not able to get the SPS Test Email Notification.

We would like to seek your advice how we can get the notification ?  We have already selected "Event Number 2580" in the Template.

Thanking you in anticipation.

The event number 2580 should be unchecked in the monitor template. According to  EMC Engineering, event 2580 event is always called during an SPS test even if  the SPS has no problems. That is why this event is not monitored. If there is a  problem with the SPS, a subsequent event will identify the problem and dial  home.

looking at the SP Event logs I see this for SPS testing

A 01/26/11 16:13:50 Bus0 Enc0 SpsB 698 Battery Testing In Progress [Testing] 0 0 80

event 2580 = Storage system is faulted. I don't see that event code in a normal battery, aka SPS test on a CX4.

example below:

Hi,

Many thanks for your advice.

From you reply,

1) It seems that we should check why we get the event 2580 for SPS Testing for a CX4-120 Storage Array running FLARE 28

2) Just would like to ask a silly question, how can you copy and paste the event logs ?  When I open "View Events", I cannot find any way to copy those events.

Your advice is sought.

I checked the logs from a CX4-240 running R28 FLARE and there are no 2580's during SPS test. Maybe you only have 1 SPS on your CX4-120? the 2nd SPS is optional. I don't have one of those models to check.

I actually used the spcollects but you can do a naviseccli getlog and redirect to a text file like: naviseccli -h SPA-IP getlog > SPA_log.txt

Try the command on your CX4-120 and copy the SPS to a reply. Maybe we can figure it out.

good luck

It appears the SPs testing is working correctly for both SPS’. The messages you see must be caused by the code/patch level the array is running. If you want to be alerted to battery testing, I would select that event code (698).
